As ace mechanic to his more well known brother Jock, "Tinker" Jack Lindsey would travel the world in support of their small craft aviation business.
Sometime in the mid 1930s while operating the business in Peru, Jack Lindsey met adventurer and explorer Insp. A. "H." Tuttle. Suffering from poorly made, over priced goods purchased for his expedition, Tuttle approached Lindsey to see if he could repair some of his equipment. This led to the men realizing that there was a desperate need for someone to provide high quality, adventure wear and equipment.
Thus Shangri-la Trading Company was born. Bringing together the men's keen sense of quality outfitting, coupled with Lindsey's mechanical interests, and Tuttle's additional love of all things Art Nouveau through Art Deco.
Today, the men have embraced a more retiring lifestyle, leaving the business to their friend, business manager, and Chief Mechanic, JP Jason "Snag" Keith who oversees both Shangri-La Trading Co. and the mechanical repair side of the operation, Tinker Jack's (of Boston).
